A suburb of Chicago hosted a national competition for its Millennium Civic Plaza with transferable cityscape elements. The submission design elements were; a historical boardwalk, gas lit lamps to reflect the lighting at the city's origin and a curved seating wall that mimics the Des Plaines River. These elements combined with the existing trees and introduced native grasses aids the visitor in understanding the significant contributions of Wheeling.
